We are looking for Corporate Heroes to support programs we offer year round to schools and familes in Durham Region. You will be recognized for your contribution of a minimum $250 towards an event of your choice and receive a tax receipt as well as recognition in printed and electronic promotional materials, event signage and your staff will be invited to participate in the event itself. Below are some of the events we have planned for this year.

2015 Events - Corporate Heroes Wanted

Valentine Snowshoe (Free)
Purple Woods Conservation Area
Saturday February 14th
Family Snowshoe 2pm to 4pm
Adults Only 6pm to 8pm

This event provides our participants with an opportunity to try our snowshoes on for free and trek through the sugarbush then warm up in Heritage Hall with some hot apple cider and some Valentine treats. Space is limited so preregistration is required.

Maple Syrup Festival (Admission Fee)

Saturday March 7 to Sunday March 29th

Celebrating 40 years in our maple sugarbush, families enjoy pancakes prepared by community groups, a wagon ride, a glimpse into the history of maple syrup making and an opportunity to purchase Purple Wood Maple Syrup at the Heritage Store.  Online tickets must be purchased in advance.

Garlic Mustard Management Event (Free)

To Beat It We Eat It
Saturday May 9th
10:00am to 2:00pm
Join us for a morning of garlic mustard removal in the Sugarbush and a culinary experience in the kitchen with our chef, making some delicious garlic mustard pesto dishes for tasting.  Space is limited so preregistration is required.

Fire Fly Family Night Hike (Free)

Friday June 19th
8:00pm to 10:00pm
Join us for our second annual night hike through the sugarbush and into the meadow to discover the stars, fire flies and the wildlife who call Purple Woods home.  Space is limited, preregistration is required.  Summer Solstice refreshments will be served in Heritage Hall. Space is limited so preregistration is required.

Spring Biodiversity Workshop (Free)
Enniskillen Conservation Area

Saturday May 23  10:00am to Noon
A hands-on workshop to learn about native, non-native and invasive plants.  Participants will receive one free native plant for their garden. Space is limited so preregistration is required.
 
Invasive Species Workshop (Free)
Courtice Community Complex

Date TBD
A hands-on workshop to learn about invasive plants.  Participants will participate in a garlic mustard removal and phragmites baseline monitoring activities outdoors. Space is limited so preregistration is required.
