About the event
Celebrate the Summer Solstice by joining us for our annual Summer Solstice Firefly Hike at Purple Woods Conservation Area! We’ll start the evening with a tasty treat of strawberries and ice cream drizzled with syrup from Purple Woods’ maple trees while learning a bit about fireflies. Then we’ll head out for a guided hike including interpretive stops about nocturnal creatures and their adaptations to the dark. The grand finale will be hiking through the meadow with the glow of fireflies!
Recommended for adults and children aged 10 and up, but everyone is welcome! Dress for the environment; closed-toe shoes, long socks, and long pants are advised. Flashlights are not necessary and can be distracting to wildlife, so please leave them (and dogs) at home and enjoy the sights and sounds of Purple Woods in the dark. This event will run rain or shine. In the event of extreme weather predictions,…
